IOC is involved in a number of initiatives with both the Defence and Commercial sectors. Examples are:
Defence Materiel Organisation Support Services Rapid Prototype Development
Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) recently called for Tenders in response to their Support Services (SS) Panel Refresh 001.  DMOSS identified thirteen (13) disciplines comprising eighty-five (85) skill sets in the Refresh Request For Tender (RFT). IOC’s response consisted of nine (9) disciplines comprising forty-three (43) skill sets based on staff availability.

Our submission covered the following disciplines:

· Project Management
· Systems and Software Engineering
· Communications Engineering
· Platform Engineering
· Information & Communications
   Technology
· Test and Evaluation
· Integrated Logistics Support
· Capability Definition
· Documents Development
· Training
RPDE (Rapid Prototype Development) is an industry consortium of companies involved in Research and Development (R&D) initiatives on behalf of Australian Defence. Similar to the DSTO CTD program, RPDE is a means for industry to fund R&D projects after being accepted by the RPDE Program Office by means of open tender.

In order to present a comprehensive submission to the RPDE management team, IOC has established an industry Group of Experts (GEX).  The working group will identify NCW Planning Tool requirements to be included in functional performance, system and software specifications for use in the development period. Our goal is to have a working prototype ready for demonstration in November 2009 at the MILCIS Symposium which is sponsored each year by the Chief Information Officers Group and Australian Defence Force Academy, University of New South Wales.
Capability Technology Demonstration
Independent Validation & Verification
Capability Technology Demonstration (CTD) is an annual Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) initiative whereby industry is invited to provide initial submissions in July of each year.  Submissions describe potential Research and Development projects that are selected for implementation in this year’s thirteen million (AUD$13m) DTSO funded program.

IOC has submitted a candidate program for consideration. Sponsored by Capability Development Group Network Centric Warfare (NCW) Office and Headquarters Joint Operations Centre J6 Branch, this program directly supports the war fighter communications planners in NCW Operations. The scope of the program is in the AUD$250,000 - $400,000 initiative with an expected duration of six to twelve months.

Independent Validation and Verification (IV&V)

Given IOC’s experience based on the internationally recognised GEX staff, we are able to provide an Australian Industry capability not previously available to our Defence Departments. Specialist services include Interoperability Evaluation at the onset of Capability Definition to the first platform delivery. Specifically, a comprehensive process of requirements definition, operational concept documentation, continuous interoperability examination and rigorous IV&V which includes both Capability Systems and the Warfighter End User of a new development.  All IOC processes are in keeping with current Defence Policy and Doctrine.
